ARCOS DE VALDEVEZ HOSTED THE IV EDITION OLYMPICS4ALL

From September, 26 to the 28 of 2018, the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez hosted three days of healthy competition among the seniors who represented 8 municipalities from the district of Viana do Castelo. The Vila Nova de Cerveira team, integrated into the European project IN COMMON SPORTS, competed in various modalities from traditional games to basketball, volleyball, swimming and athletics, having won the first prize ex aequo with the representative team of the municipality of Ponte de Lima. This competition was also an opportunity to deepen the knowledge of the motivational factors for the continued practice of physical exercise in the elderly and the impact of sports competitions on the physical and mental fitness of the elderly.

About 200 seniors participated in this 4th edition, that started in 2015 in Vila Nova de Cerveira, as result of a project co-funded by the programme Erasmus+ Sport.
These events that aim to increase awareness for the practice of physical activity of more vulnerable groups will keep going for the coming year. During the closing dinner, was announced the municipality that will host the fifth edition of the initiative "Olympics4all" - the Municipality of Melgaço.
