9TH TRANSNATIONAL MEETING OF IN COMMON SPORTS PROJECT PRESENTS RESULTS OF THE STUDY IN PORTUGAL
After nearly four years of work by the IN COMMON SPORTS project, and within the scope of the 9th international meeting, the results of the study “The motivational factors for the sistematic practice of physical exercise in the elderly population” and the impact of the Intergenerational Olympics on the physical and mental fitness of the elderly were released, which summarize the project's objectives and the goals achieved by the 6 entities involved from the 5 participating countries: Portugal, Spain, Italy, Hungary and Bulgaria.
The international meeting that took place on the 9th and 10th of November in Vila Nova de Cerveira welcomed the partners of the the consortium and the representative of the Slovenian entity that incorporates the new IN COMMON SPORT + 2021-2023 project. On November 9, the "Multiplier Sport Event" was held in the Escola Superior de Desporto e Lazer in Melgaço, to disseminate the results of the study, which was attended by the school's students, and where each partner made a presentation publicizing the impact project in their regions.
On the 10th, participants had the opportunity to attend a meeting with Olympic athletes from Vila Nova de Cerveira and Tomiño were welcomed by the Mayor of Vila Nova de Cerveira, Rui Teixeira and by the Sports Councilor, Carla Segadães. Considering the impact of the project in our region, it was with words of hope and bet on a greater dynamization of activities that the new mayor greeted the senior athletes.
It was also a time for exchanging good practices and testing “in loco” the rules of collective sports that integrate the “Olympics4all” competitions between international coaches and athletes representing the Vila Nova de Cerveira team.
By the end of the project, on December 31 of this year, the last international meeting is scheduled to take place in the municipality of Pontevedra – Galicia, under the leadership of the University of Vigo.
