FIRST COMPETITION IN SPAIN BRINGS TOGETHER OVER 100 SENIORS

From 19 to 21 November, the European project "In Common Sports" (Intergenerational Competition as Motivation for Sport and Healthy Lifestyle of the Elderly) promoted the first edition of the Intergenerational Olympics for the elderly in Sanxenxo (Spain).More than 100 people over 65 participated in different sports and traditional games.
On the first day (November 19), several competitions were held at the pool, including water polo and water basketball.

During the second day (November 21), basketball, volleyball and bocce competitions were held in the pavilion, and the traditional games of Galicia were also promoted. The competition is open only to those who participate in the study in the municipality of Sanxenxo.

This project aims to study competition as a motivating factor for older people to continue attending classes and improve their physical fitness and sports in general.
