Senior Athletes from Cerveira in the first “olympics4all” 2022 interim games
The athletes from the Municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira participated, on June 29, in the first “Olympics4all” 2022 interim games that took place in the Municipality of Monção. The Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira, Carla Segadães, was present at the initiative to watch some games played and to greet the participating seniors.
The event was attended by around 220 athletes from all municipalities in Alto Minho, with the Municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira being represented by a delegation of 25 athletes from Cerveira and Tomiño, continuing the team's cross-border spirit. In order to prepare the athletes, the referee team and support staff for the VI edition of the Senior Olympics that will take place in Vila Nova de Cerveira, from the 7th to the 9th of September, the delegation from Cerveira also included seven young volunteers who will support the refereeing team in September.
It should be noted that these interim games were the first post-pandemic games, so all athletes showed great satisfaction with the sporting activities provided, contributing to the strengthening of the role of sport in promoting health and raising awareness among participants. for the benefits of physical activity and the promotion of its regular practice.
The event also had the presence of technicians from the municipalities of Mealhada, Montemor-o-Velho and AD ELO - Associação de Desenvolvimento Local da Bairrada and Mondego, who witnessed the dynamics of the games with the aim of providing a more of the project and check the conditions to replicate the event in your region.
