Olympic Games for all - 2023 in Aksakovo
For the fifth time in a row, within the Aksakovo week, the "Olympic Games for All" were held in the town of Aksakovo. The games are held within the framework of the three-year project "General Sport +: physical fitness, healthy nutrition and fun for the elderly" under the "Erasmus + Sport" program of the European Commission, which is the second project in which the Municipality of Aksakovo participates in partnership with the Municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira /Portugal/, Municipality of Cesena /Italy/, University of Vigo /Portugal/, Institute of Sports in Viana do Castelo /Portugal/, State Sports Institute in Nova Gorica /Slovenia/. The project ends by the end of 2023 and aims to maintain physical activity in the elderly and promote healthy eating.
The Olympics were opened by Hristo Atanasov - municipal councilor and Mrs. Ruska Ilieva - deputy mayor of Aksakovo municipality. The participants, elderly people over 60 years of age, competed in athletics, adapted volleyball, adapted basketball, traditional games such as folk ball and the game "King of Portal". For the second year in a row, representatives of the village of Zornitsa and the village of Kichevo participated. The prize for the oldest participant went to Bonka Yaneva Yordanova. Since the Olympic Games under the project are ending were awarded a prize for the most active participants in the Olympic Games, the participants participated in all five Olympic Games.
The games ended with a traditional Bulgarian dance dance against the background of an accordion and a drum. In addition to sports and physical activity, competitions are a good opportunity to maintain social contacts and the sports spirit of the elderly.
