University of Vigo promotes Multiplier Sport Events across generations
On November 9th and November 16th, the University of Vigo hosted events to disseminate the results of the project "IN COMMON SPORTS +: FIT, FOOD AND FUN FOR ELDERLY!" in the region of Galicia - Spain.
Sanxenxo City Council hosted the 1st MULTIPLIER SPORTS EVENT, in which the development and results of the project were presented. In addition, a video was also shared among the participants with photographs from different moments of the project, where participants could be seen carrying out their weekly sessions, the different events held, as well as the evaluations of the athletes that were carried out throughout the project.
The presentation was organized by the work team from the University of Vigo led by researcher José María Cancela Carral. The presentation of the data was made in the presence of 101 participants, all athletes participating in the project, and other institutions that were interested in the project, first explaining the most relevant changes in Spanish seniors, followed by a comparative presentation between the countries.
On November 16th, the Faculty of Education and Sports Sciences of the University of Vigo hosted the 2nd MULTIPLIER SPORTS EVENT, with the presentation focusing on the analysis of data obtained by the Spanish delegation.
The data was presented in the presence of undergraduate students in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, enrolled in subjects related to physical exercise and the elderly.
Participants stated that they would like to participate in future events as volunteers, as they considered it a very interesting and future-oriented initiative in the professional field in which they will soon find themselves. At the end of the month we will have an Olympics to close the project and we will have some of them given the great reception and interest.
Both events ended with the news from the person responsible for the project that the European Commission had considered this project strategic within its development plan and that it had been selected for the European BeActivate Awards 2023' - across generations.
